Description
The Truffle Trail in Montà d'Alba guides visitors on a discovery of the king of Piedmontese gastronomy in its natural habitat. The nearly seven-kilometer route enters oak and poplar forests where trifolao (trifolao) search for the precious Alba white truffle with the help of their faithful dogs. The trail passes through the Rocche del Roero, extraordinary geological formations that create a lunar landscape among the rolling vineyard-covered hills. The moderate elevation gain makes the walk accessible to all, while educational panels along the route reveal the secrets of truffle hunting and biology. Autumn is the perfect season, when the forest releases its most intense aromas and the Truffle Fair enlivens the village. Bring lightweight hiking shoes.
