Description
The Verna Botanical Trail of the Ecomuseum of the Rocche del Roero begins in the hamlet of Saliceto di Pocapaglia. Its name comes from the black alder, "verna" in dialect, a hygrophilous species abundant in this wetland area of the Roero. In just a few kilometers, it passes through three different environments: water-rich wetlands, a mesophilic environment, and finally an arid highland environment with Scots pines (glacial relics). Difficulty: Family.
