Description
The La Verna Nature Trail in the Casentino Forests National Park, entitled 'Nature, History, Spirituality'. It unfolds in 10 stages along the ancient paved road that was part of the 'Main Road from Florence to Auvergne' (mentioned in the customs statutes of 1460), ascending from the municipality of Chiusi della Verna towards the Franciscan sanctuary. It passes through the monumental forest and the characteristic limestone boulders of Monte Penna, a symbolic mountain in the heart of the Casentino, donated by Orlando Catani to Saint Francis.
